 What does the PTSA do?

The PTSA works hard to educate parents about programs and events that require funding to continue to improve the educational experience for our students.  In order to keep parents adequately informed, the PTSA communicates information about these important programs and events that impact our students through different communication vehicles; PTSA web site, email, General Membership meetings, and the CKMS weekly newsletter.

Why should I join the PTSA?

1. The number one reason to join the PTSA is to benefit your child!

Get to know what is happening in your school.  Study after study has shown that parent involvement is key to student success in education. The PTSA is a great avenue for parents, working with the teachers and staff, to impact the success of Chief Kanim Middle School and demonstrate to your child the importance you place on education!

2. Get involved and be a part of the solution!

By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Local PTAs play avery important role in fundraising to provide school improvements, curriculum enhancement programs, and family social events and activities.

3. A voice and vote at PTSA meetings.

Our membership determines how PTSA can best advocate for our students and enhance their educational experience at and beyond CKMS.  The PTA mission is to remind our country of its obligations to children and provide parents and families with a powerful voice to speak on behalf of every child. Your membership is that powerful voice and it's heard at the local, state and national level.

4. Become a member of Washington State PTA and National PTA.

When you join CKMS PTSA, you automatically become a member of Washington State PTA and National PTA. National PTA is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1897 to enhance the education, health, safety, and welfare of all children. With over 6 million members, it's the largest child advocacy volunteer organization in the U.S.A

5. Benefits from state and national PTAs.

Individuals and local units can take advantage of a host of benefits from PTA membership including discounts and offers from member benefits providers and sponsors, magazine subscriptions, leadership training, e-newsletters and much more.
